Topic: My Grandchild has Autism
Hello
I am just beginning to write this story. The story of my grandchild. His name is Adan. He has autism. There is much in the news about autism. I had never even seen an autistic child until Adan. I had studied autism briefly in childhood diseases while taking a class as medical assistant. Chances are that you know of someone who has autism, simply because it has become an epidemic in this nation. It has become an epidemic throughout most of the world.
I was told when we found out that Adan was autistic, that I was not to think of him as a "Special child". I knew right then they were saying the wrong thing, because to me he already was a special child, whether autistic or not. He was my grandchild. He is a little angel who came into my life and has given me much joy. But that is neither here or there to do with autism. I think maybe that that is the deal with autistic. It is not all about autism. It is about this little child.
So I started learning everything I could about this condition, disease, or whatever it is. I am still learning all I can about it. I will continue to write to try to give you insight about autism. It has changed my life. I know that.
The first thing I will have to say to everyone who wants to know about autism. You can not put all the symptoms or actions in a box and say, this is true and that is true of autism. EVERY AUTISTIC CHILD IS DIFFERENT! WHAT IS TRUE OF ONE CHILD IS NOT ALWAYS TRUE OF ANOTHER. EVERY AUTISTIC CHILD IS DIFFERENT!
